    What's amazing about this. Is the fact that not more 3months prior to this she had a horrible nationals. Look how she grew and did an amazing job. Then went to the American cup and literally shocked everyone. I remember sitting in the stands watching podium training and hearing everyone talking about gabby. That's when i knew she was something. It literally was everyone talking about how amazing she looked. I remember even jordyn an aly telling her how good she looked. And the fact that in 2012 she almost won the nationals with a fall said alot

    I didn't like Liukin's reaction to her pain, hushing her to stop being loud and even telling her ''easy easy easy'' like if she was out of her mind or something. The most disturbing thing, nonetheless, is how she obediently stopped crying after he told her to do it. And then, Nassar appeared like a savior. So sorry to say this, but this video perfectly summarizes what was wrong with USA Gymnastics at the time.

    • @shadow_ax
      @shadow_ax 2 года назад

      Sometimes continually screaming while you’re in pain can make the pain feel worse. Namely, because it keeps the fight or flight reaction active which tenses up your muscles. When you get injured like Bross did here, that’s the last thing you want to do. If you’ve torn a tendon or a ligament, the extra muscle tension could make the tear even worse. As for that sicko Larry Nassar, you’ll get no arguments from me regarding what a rotten person he is.

    • @M.Elle-
      @M.Elle- 2 года назад

      @@shadow_ax I'm not saying you're wrong, but Valeri wasn't the best coach to Rebecca. He put most of his focus on Nastia when she was competing. Seeing Rebecca in pain and him not wanting her to express that isn't a surprise. He had a delayed reaction to her injury almost as if he was disappointed with something that was out of her control. Valeri made her compete coming right out of surgery when she wasn't ready. Most of those coaches were horrible to those girls and not very concerned about the dangers of the sport itself.

    • @samanderson7745
      @samanderson7745 2 года назад

      I'm not going to say that Valeri was a great coach at all, but to say he had a delayed response getting to her isn't fair. once she rolled onto her side he immediately moved to her, helped isolate the knee and moved her back onto the mat to be a bit more comfortable instead of holding her head up. And yes, as a guy who works in EMS I can assure you that coaching a pt to calm down after they've been injured is beneficial to all parties involved. Firstly, it gets the patient to focus and then relax which actually can help with pain. Second, by having them more calm it is easier for us to do an exam and see exactly where the pain is at. Knee areas could be a simple patellar dislocation that needs to be reduced, cartilege or bone injury, or it could be ligament/tendon damage getting a good physical exam and confirming circulation and sensation are intact is paramount. By having the pt more calm and able to answer questions they can help the providers figure out what exactly is injured and the severity of the injury. Also, anyone who has been competitive in athletics is familiar with injuries and recovery from them. By calming down and interacting with providers empowers the athlete so they more easily move from the "why me" phase and into the "what do I need to do to get back to competing?" phase.

    • @TheSolakimnastics

      I saw it as trying to get her to breathe and calm down, not to shush her. I always try to stay calm myself, and then try to keep my athletes calm when they get injured.

    I really don’t understand Christine‘s issue with this girl. Her first split was a hair shy and the second split was actually in over-split. I actually paused and look at each jump closely. There must’ve been some thing about Sabrina that just wasn’t floating Christine‘s boat. I’m very confused by her commentary.

      A lot of times we only see them as athletes, we tend to forget that competitive gymnasts are pretty young, most are below 20, that cry brings me back to reality, to remember that she isnt only an athlete, at that time she was only 18 years old, she was a child, and although there was obviously pain, I see her cry more like she was scared, that kind of situations tend to be pretty scary and traumatic,
